Ari Aster

Ari Aster

Ari was born in New York City; he grew up in Chester, England, and Santa Fe, New Mexico. His enduring, unhealthy obsession with film began around the time that he learned to speak and hasn’t subsided since. Ari graduated with a BA in film from the College of Santa Fe, and is about to graduate with an MFA in Directing from the AFI Conservatory. Ari has written eight feature screenplays, two novels, and has written and directed several short films. Ari’s first screenplay “The Black Duffel Bag” won the SCSFe Actors Choice Award, and he was a top-ten finalist in the Creative Screenwriting Expo’s Open Contest; his novel “Sammy Barthowe At Your Service!” also received an Honorable Mention from Starcherone’s Prize for Innovative Fiction.
